Dr. Sandra Sookram currently serves as the Director of the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies at the St. Augustine Campus. Prior to this role, she was a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the School of Business and Management at the Five Islands Campus. From 2015 to 2020, she held the position of Deputy Governor (Monetary Operations and Policy) at the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, overseeing departments such as Banking Operations, Reserves and Domestic Market Management, Research, and Information Services. 

Before her tenure at the Central Bank, Dr. Sookram was a Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) at the St. Augustine Campus. Her contributions to economics include extensive research published in reputable journals and book chapters, and she has mentored students at the M.Sc., M.Phil, and Ph.D. levels. Additionally, she has collaborated with several international agencies on research relevant to the Caribbean region. She also demonstrated her commitment to public service by serving as Deputy Chairman on the North Central Regional Health Authority Board.
