TITLE: The Efficient Generation of Mathematics Learning Games

DATE: Wednesday 25th September 2013

TIME: 11:00 a.m.

VENUE: Department Seminar Room, Dept. of Computing and Information Technology, 2nd floor, Natural Sciences Building

ABSTRACT: This seminar describes the research being undertaken which involves the efficient generation of mathematics learning games. Research has shown that learning games can help students improve their mathematics skills. However, there is no efficient and effective method for creating learning games for mathematics. The problem identified, the rationale and the proposed solution will be discussed. Some interesting commonalities have been identified within the mathematics curriculum and is the basis for the proposed solution to this problem of game generation. In this seminar examples and a demo will be used to explore these commonalities identified to illustrate the idea. The research questions and the expected contribution will then be discussed. In conclusion the next steps for this research will be presented.
