Admissions & Eligibility
Academic qualifications required to apply for the MD programme
Applicants must have a BSc in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry. Other degrees may be considered by the entrance committee.
Applicants who show evidence of proficiency in biology, chemistry, and/or related disciplines and communication skills will have an advantage. Students who do not may be considered if they develop proficiency in these areas through qualifying courses.
Additionally, applicants must have an O-Level certificate or equivalent, including passes in Mathematics, English, and Physics.
Entry requirements for the qualifying courses
Prospective candidates should have one of the following:
- A high school certificate (Grade 12 matriculation) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, English, and a Foreign Language.
- At least five (5) passes at CXC (CSEC) General Proficiency (Grades I-III), GCE O-Levels, BSCSE (Grades A-C), or approved equivalents. Required subjects: English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and a Foreign Language.
- Consideration will be given to students transferring from other fields into health professions.
Entrance exams or standardized tests required for admission
- American students: MCAT scores will be considered.
- Indian students: NEET scores will be considered.
- All applicants will be required to attend an interview.
English proficiency requirement for non-native speakers
Applicants must submit results from one of the recognized English proficiency tests.
Direct entry into the MD programme for students with a science-related degree
Students with degrees in Biology, Chemistry, or Biochemistry or related discipline may apply for direct entry into the MD programme.
