Programmes offered by the Global School of Medicine
- Qualifying Courses: 12 to 15 months, starting August 2025
- MD in Medicine: 4 years, starting August 2026
MD programme structure
The MD is a four-year programme, consisting of:
- Two years of basic sciences training
- Two years of clinical training
The degree is awarded by The University of the West Indies (UWI), which has a 70-year history of producing high-quality medical professionals.
Information for applicants who do not have a BSc degree
Yes, you can still apply. Applicants without a Bachelor’s degree (BSc)—such as those with ‘A’ Levels or an Associate Degree—may be required to complete qualifying courses, as determined by the School’s Admissions Committee.
From Qualifying Courses to the MD programme
Students who achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher will meet the academic criteria for admission to the MD degree. For further details, please visit our webpage: “Admission to the MD Degree.”
MD degree recognition and practicing internationally
The MD degree is recognised internationally but graduates must register with the respective Medical Council in their chosen country to practice.
Additional criteria considered in the admissions process
Applicants will have an advantage if they demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills (e.g., completion of writing-intensive courses).
- Teamwork experience in academic or professional settings.
- There will be an interview.
