At The University of the West Indies, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, faculty, and visitors is a top priority. Our Security Services are dedicated to maintaining a secure and supportive campus environment through a proactive and professional approach.

This document states how we enhance the security of our international staff and students at UWI-GSM.

UWI Estate Police Services

The UWI Estate Police serve as the primary security force on campus. With a strong and consistent presence, they work around the clock to ensure the safety of all members of the UWI community.

24/7 Campus Patrols

Uniformed Estate Police Officers conduct regular mobile and foot patrols throughout the campus to maintain a visible presence and provide timely response to any incidents or concerns.

Emergency Response

Officers are trained to handle a wide range of emergency situations, from medical assistance to public safety threats. They coordinate closely with local emergency services when necessary.

Access Control & Facility Security

Security personnel monitor access to key buildings and facilities, ensuring that only authorized individuals are permitted entry.

Flexibility & Mobility

The Estate Police provide coverage and support for official campus events to ensure the safety of attendees and smooth operations.

Surveillance & Monitoring

Strategic CCTV surveillance is used to monitor critical areas and support investigations when required.

Security is a shared responsibility. All members of the UWI community are encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings, report suspicious activity, and follow university guidelines to help maintain a safe campus.
