WHO CAN ACCESS THE SERVICES?

ANY student can access the services through self-referral or referrals by Faculty, Department, friend, family, etc. SLDD caters to the needs of Full-Time, Part-Time, Evening University, Postgraduate, Mature, External, international, regional and Undergraduate students in addition to Student Athletes and students with Special Needs (Disabilities).

GENERAL ACADEMIC SUPPORT – ALL STUDENTS

  • Study skills
  • Peer tutoring
  • Educational assessment
  • Time management
  • Examination strategies
  • Workload management
  • Referrals to Counselling

INTERNATIONAL AND REGIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT

  • Assistance with Immigration matters
  • Peer pairing
  • Liaising with faculties and departments regarding immigration matters
  • Academic and general student support.

DISABILITY SUPPORT/SPECIAL NEEDS STUDENTS SUPPORT

  • Provision of aids and devices, such as laptops, digital voice recorders, special software (JAWS), wheelchairs, walking canes and crutches.
  • Special accommodations for examinations
  • Classroom accommodations
  • Liaison with faculties, departments, deans, heads of departments, and lecturers
  • Special parking accommodations
  • Student Support Group
  • Assistive Technology Lab at the Alma Jordan Library.

POSTGRADUATE AND MATURE STUDENT SUPPORT

  • Financial assistance through the peer tutoring programme and examination invigilation.
  • Referrals geared towards graduate employment.
  • Liaising with faculties and departments regarding postgraduate and mature student matters.
