Marla Dukharan

Biography

Marla Dukharan is currently a PhD Economics candidate and recently appointed Group Economist at RBC. She functioned as Economist (consultant) at Business Insight Limited and the Caribbean Centre for Money and Finance while pursuing the PhD program since 2009. Marla has worked in the financial sector in Trinidad since 1996 holding economic / financial / investment related positions in various institutions including Republic Bank Limited and Caribbean Money Market Brokers Limited (CMMB).  Her primary responsibilities included the development of statistical databases and implementation of economic and financial research infrastructure, economic research and analysis, written and verbal reporting to various governance committees, trading and advising international fixed-income and currency traders, leading global expansion and research teams, and coordinating the creation of the CMMB iQ magazine. The foucs of Marla's research for her PhD thesis is in the area of Behavioural Finance, testing the hypothesis that risk attitudes are the one true driver of investment decision-making.
