Anusha Ragbir
Anusha Ragbir is a Research Assistant and Ph.D. student at the Institute for Gender and Development Studies, UWI, St. Augustine. She holds a B.A. in History and an MSc. in Gender and Development, which she was awarded with top honours. Her thesis is entitled “Staging Indianness: The Production of Visibility in Indian Beauty Pageant in Trinidad”. Her Ph.D. research is on female transnational migrant sex workers in Trinidad. Ms. Ragbir also lectures during the summer for the course Introduction to Women’s Studies
Through her affiliation with the Institute, Ms. Ragbir has organised a public forum on the Marriage Act of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as facilitated the government’s public consultation on the issue. Additionally, she was a feature speaker for the Hindu Women’s Organisation’s public consultation on the Marriage Act. Her interests include research on sex work, bodies, sexualities, identities and Indo-Trinidadian girlhood and womanhood.
