Brenda Gopeesingh

Brenda Gopeesingh is a business entrepreneur, independent researcher, social and cultural activist.  She is a founding member of the Hindu Women’s Organisation of Trinidad & Tobago Inc and a former president.  She currently holds the position of Vice-President.

Gopeesingh has served on the board of the Network of Non-Governmental Organisations for the Advancement of Women where she held the post of Assistant Coordinator from 2002–2004. She was among twenty-four women who were selected by the Network as Agents of Change in observation of Commonwealth Day, 2011.  She is also a long standing member of CAFRA ( Caribbean Association of Feminist Research & Action.)

In March 2011, she was appointed by the Honourable Prime Minister, as Envoy for the Commonwealth in the Caribbean in relation to “Investing in Women and Girls”. Gopeesingh also received a gold Medal for the Development of Women at the Independence National Awards Ceremony in 2011.
