Kavyta Raghunandan
At present, Kavyta Raghunandan is a Ph.D. candidate in Gender Studies at the University of Leeds. She has a background in the arts, with a strong involvement in independent film festivals, promotions and programming. She is particularly interested in exploring the intersections of gendered and raced bodies, race performativity and processes of creolisation in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean within the Indian diasporic context. Her research interests also extend to global genders; Caribbean Studies; South Asian studies; contemporary Indian feminism; mixing and mixed “race”; aesthetics, beauty and representation in popular culture; and ethnicised femininities.
