Robert Carr

Robert Carr is Senior Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, and a Board Member of Jamaica AIDS Support for Life.  He has been active in human rights advocacy for some time, dating back to his earliest publications from the 1980s. He has published several books, including his single-authored Black Nationalism in the New World (Duke 2002), which won an honourable mention from the Caribbean Studies Association’s Gordon K. and Sybil Lewis Award.  He is also Executive Director of the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition.  More recently, he co-edited Sexuality, Social Exclusion and Human Rights (Ian Randle Press, 2009) with Prof. Christine Barrow and Drs. Marjan de Bruin.  He holds a PhD in Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Masters in Social Work from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.
