Assessing learning challenges in children

Professor Jerome De Lisle of the School of Education wanted to develop a clinic where clinicians could use research-backed assessments to diagnose children’s learning issues and design interventions that overcome them.

STACIE helped him secure TT$500,000 from the RDI Fund to support his project. Today, at the Psychoeducational Diagnostic and Intervention Clinic (PEDIC), students overcome problems focusing, understanding or retaining schoolwork and learning to read and do math. PEDIC also trains educators in assessment, diagnosis and intervention, so they can help the children in their classrooms.
