Biography

Jade Trim is a PhD candidate and Research Assistant at the IGDS. At the institute, she coordinates the IGDS Ignite feminist mentorship club, and acts as course coordinator and tutor for three undergraduate courses. Her areas of interest include race, gender, and hair, Gender-Based Violence, women's history, youth organizing and transnational feminist movements

Thesis
  • In her MPhil thesis, she theorized about the gendered and raced power relations made relevant within the conversations and observations Afro-descended women have about hair in postcolonial societies like Trinidad and Tobago.

IGDS Ignite! Recent Media

IGDS Ignite collaborated with the Islamic Arts Collective and #TrinbagoforPalestine to host a Meet and Greet with Trinidad and Tobago's first Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, H.E. Dr. Linda Sobeh Ali, on the afternoon of Thursday, 4 September, at the IGDS's new offices at 59 Gordon Street, St Augustine, The UWI North Campus.
