MSc Global Studies, BSc International Relations (UWI)
Khadijah Pierre graduated from the University of the West Indies, St Augustine in 2015 with a BSc in International Relations and a Minor in Psychology and in 2017 with a MSc in Global Studies with distinction where her thesis specifically examined the implementation of the CEDAW Convention and those of the ILO that directly guide proper policy and legislative interventions to gender equality in the workplace. During her time as a student she became the Youth Representative on the Board of Directors for the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago and engaged in advocacy around sexual reproductive health and rights. Due to her work in FPATT, she was able to become a member of the UNFPA Youth Advisory Group and was chosen to be one of six young persons within the International Planned Parenthood Federation WHR’s Advocacy Youth Catalyst Group. Based on her advocacy work, in 2018 she was nominated and chosen to be one of five young advocates within Trinidad and Tobago to be a Women Deliver Young Leader. Khadijah is currently a Research Assistant at the Institute for Gender and Development Studies and is also the Chief Administrative Assistant of the OME Events Committee.
