Where can I get forms to apply for the
PG Diploma, MSc, MPhil or PhD programmes?

The application process is electronic (online) and not paper based. Supporting documentation must be uploaded and also submitted in hardcopy.

When do I apply for the
PG Diploma, MSc, MPhil or PhD?

Applications are accepted every two years for the PG Diploma and the MSc. Application/ entry for a new Cohort is in September 2020. 

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis for start in Janaury and in Septemebr of each year for the MPhil and the PhD. 

Online application period is open now. There is no paper based application. Deadline for applying 31 July 2020.

What is the application processing fee?

This is a non-refundable and required processing fee paid as follows:
Trinidad and Tobago Nationals: TT $90.00;
Residents of Commonwealth Caribbean Countries: US $30.00;
International applicants: US $30.00. See

NOTE - Currently the non-refundable application fee has been waived starting May 11 through July 10, 2020.

What documents do I need to apply for my PG Diploma, MSc, MPhil or PhD?

  1. Two (2) reference letters from anyone who knows you in a professional capacity
  2. Research proposal (MPhil and PhD applicants only) 
  3. Curriculum Vitae 
  4. Official transcript from granting institutions other than UWI
  5. Affidavit or deed poll if your present name is different from that on your birth certificate 
  6. Professional certificates/diplomas obtained from institutions other than UWI

 

I tried to apply for the PG Diploma / MSc Gender and Development Studies but those options are not coming up, why?

Try searching for available full-time programmes. The PG Diploma Gender and Development Studies and the MSc Gender and Development Studies are full-time programmes, however classes are held in the afternoons into evenings.

I am interested in pursuing the MPhil or PhD Interdisciplinary Gender Studies programmes. Do I have to wait to start in September?

No. MPhil and PhD applications are accepted twice per year for September and for January.

 

 

When should I expect a response concerning my application?

You should expect a response via email during July and August of the Academic year in which you expect to commence your studies. 

What is a leave of absence?

A candidate may apply for leave of absence from a programme for reasons including academic, medical, personal, work related reasons or the absence of courses to register for. The candidate’s registration will be suspended during leave of absence but she/he will be expected to register following the end of the leave of absence.
