The Department of Creative and Festival Arts
The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) is a department in the Faculty of Humanities and Education, The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine.
The DCFA offers two undergraduate specials, three majors, two postgraduate diplomas (one with the School of Education), one Master’s programme, and five certificates, which can be pursued on a full-time and/or part-time basis at The UWI.
Through these academic programmes and outreach activities, the Department has a vibrant research programme in which the Faculty are engaged, thus fulfilling its mission and vision Statement:
MISSION STATEMENT
The Department of Creative and Festival Arts is committed to the exploration of the indigenous arts and culture of the Caribbean as a basis for education, training and practice of the arts in ways that are rewarding to the artist, beneficial to society, and render the region internationally competitive.
VISION STATEMENT
The Department for Creative and Festival Arts is the department for the exploration and development of the indigenous and contemporary arts of the Caribbean, as well as Caribbean Culture. All of which will provide a basis for education, training and practice of the Arts in ways that are rewarding to the artist, beneficial to society and through practice and dialogue, will render the region internationally competitive.
