Official Visit of Chinese Delegation
On March 19, 2024, the Director of the CLL, Dr. Nicole Roberts welcomed a delegation from the People’s Republic of China to the CLL. The visit centred around strengthening UWI-China relations and the state of Mandarin Chinese education in Trinidad and Tobago.
Sophia University (Japan) Summer Session 2024
Students are invited to apply for the 3-week summer session in East Asian Studies at Sophia University in Tokyo, Japan.
Talent Show
To culminate its 25 anniversary festivities, The Centre for Language Learning (CLL) will host its first ever Foreign Language Talent Show, entitled, CLL’s Got Talent! The event will take place on December 8, 2023 at 6pm.
Chinese Drawing Contest
As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, our Chinese Section is hosting a drawing contest to highlight traditional Chinese festivals. The contest runs from May 29 – June 20, 2023. Winners will be announced on August 7, 2023.
Open House 2023
The Centre for Language Learning is pleased to open its doors to members of the public, secondary school students and teachers, as well as members of the campus community to its triennial Open House on March 24 and 25, 2023. Come “Explore the World with the CLL”!
French Theatre Returns!
French theatre returns to the CLL! On September 29, 2022 the CLL’s French section facilitated its first French theatre session after a 2-year hiatus. Thirteen students from the CLL and the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (DMLL) attended.
Chinese Paper-Cutting
On September 23, 2022, our Mandarin Chinese tutor, Ms Janine Lutchman facilitated an online paper cutting activity with students from the Parvati Girls Hindu College. A total of 35 students from the school’s Foreign Language & Culture Club attended.
