Non-University Students
Welcome to the Centre for Language Learning! We offer short, non-specialist, foreign language courses in Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Yoruba. Our courses emphasize using the target language for communicating with speakers of that language. They focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in the target language, and knowing and using the grammar and culture of that language.
All successful language learning requires a commitment of time and effort. Before registering, carefully consider if your present schedule will allow you enough time to dedicate to learning a language. Whether you want to be able to understand your favourite Japanese anime; sing along to the latest bachata song; travel to France; study in Germany, China or Korea; or gain a competitive edge in the workplace, we are happy to help you make those dreams a reality.
Foreign Language
Courses
We offer non-specialist courses in a variety of foreign languages, as well as English as a Second Language. All courses are subject to minimum student enrolment and tutor availability.

Delivery
Courses are delivered as much as possible in the target language to increase the learner’s exposure to the language. Emphasis is placed on communication and interaction, whether classes are delivered face-to-face or remotely.
Assessment
100% coursework. There will be continuous assessment exercises throughout the semester and each skill will be tested at specific times during the semester, depending on the course.
Certification
Certificates of Completion are awarded upon successful completion of part B of a level. A digital official record is awarded upon successful completion of part A of a level.
